The Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of Hedland Maritime Initiative (HMI) projects and stakeholder engagement activities related to the Port Hedland Voluntary Buy-Back Scheme (PHVBS) and the re-development of HMI acquired properties
Safety and People

Integrated Management Systems
- Assist with the systems that ensure the HMI complies with all applicable codes, as well as its legal and statutory requirements.
- Comply with and demonstrate a positive commitment to Pilbara Ports (as owner) values, plans, organisational processes and management systems, as well as subsequent processes and systems of the HMI, in areas that include health & safety, environment & heritage, governance, risk management, procurement and financial reporting.
Project Management
- Assist in the development, roll out and update of the corporate identity for the HMI and redevelopment of HMI acquired properties.
- Develop, execute, and manage stakeholder engagement and communications plans for the PHVBS and HMI projects.
- Provide input into the PHVBS Steering Committee communications related to HMI projects.
- Prepare communication and marketing material, including fact sheets, community newsletters, presentations for the Managing Director HMI, including (as required) speeches, social media and website content.
- Coordinate and host information forums and/or site visits for stakeholders, including industry representative groups, local government authorities, community members and local community bodies, as required.
- Coordinate work by external consultants as required.
- Coordinate corporate and project specific event management as required.
- Prepare Project Management Plans to ensure that project objectives and deliverables are achieved
- Prepare project budgets, schedules and Gantt charts, as required, for projects to ensure effective monitoring and progress reporting.
- Undertake risk assessments and manages risk in accordance with risk management frameworks.
- Procure materials, equipment and services, as required, in accordance with procurement and contracting procedures. This includes the preparation of project scopes of work and liaising with Procurement in the preparation of tender and contract documentation and supplier selection.
- Manage consultants and service providers through regular communications to ensure project scopes of work are delivered within the agreed scope, time and budget.
- Seek technical advice for specialist design of infrastructure or development components.
- Manage project stakeholders ensuring their needs and interests are identified and addressed during project execution, in line with project’s objectives.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders (as required) through regular informal and formal communications, both verbal and written.
- Liaise, briefs and consults with government departments and other stakeholders, as required.
- Manage and consults with community and other stakeholders as required.
Media Relations
- Prepare media liaison material related to HMI projects, including media statements, responses and fact sheets (as required).
- Coordinate site visits and background briefings for media (as required).
- Other duties and projects as requested by the Managing Director of HMI
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Communications, or a Business related discipline would be highly regarded.

- High-level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Proven experience in the development and implementation of effective project management plans and activities.
- High level experience in delivering projects in a fast-paced environment and managing organisational reputation.
- Demonstrated experience in community and stakeholder engagement in the delivery of projects.
- Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to work outside of usual business hours, sound computing skills, and a WA Driver’s License are prerequisites for positions with HMI.
