Description:
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager – Underground, the successful candidate will provide leadership, project management and oversight of the underground scope for the Main Works phase of the Borumba Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) Project. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the underground project objectives are achieved, which involves working proactively to manage all aspects of the project including scope, budget, schedule, quality, procurement, resources, communications and risk.
Key accountabilities in this role include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the underground component of the Owner’s Team in the execution of the Main Works transaction strategy.
- Providing technical input into scope documents of the construction contract, evaluating technical submissions and pricing responses and being a key member in the determination of the underground delivery partner.
- Ensuring activities are aligned at the project level and providing technical input into package level procurement.
- Developing the Owner’s Team pre-tender estimate for the underground Main Works component, inclusive of construction methodology and providing constructability input to aid evolution of the PHES design.
- Overseeing the development of the Main Works underground construction contract to ensure it effectively manages risks and uncertainties.
- Providing technical direction and input, including development of the owner’s technical requirements and technical returnables, within an integrated collaborative multi-disciplinary team that comprises of transaction, technical, commercial and legal personnel.
- Managing the development of Project documentation (e.g. budget, schedule, and risk register) in accordance with the requirements of the project(s) and entity governance.
- Ensuring the development, update, and implementation of the Project Management Plan to ensure successful implementation of the project, focusing on all aspects of project management.
- Ensuring that all projects are carried out in accordance with standards, policies and practices, particularly those relating to Environmental, Cultural Heritage, Procurement and Contract Administration.
- Ensuring work health and safety is considered holistically as a core part of overall project management.
About You
To be considered for this position you will ideally possess:
- Minimum of 15 years underground hard rock mining/tunnelling/heavy civil experience.
- Demonstrated industry experience in the procurement and delivery of large scale, complex, high risk infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in producing management and engineering design solutions from concept to fruition to issues of constructability, quality, productivity, and safety.
- Proven experience working with contractor partners to deliver projects on-time, on budget and incident free, as well as proactively communicating potential and actual changes to project requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing design and construct contracts with exposure to incentivised target cost type compensation models.
- Proven ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing circumstances and demands in a measured and constructive way.
- Extensive experience in the development and execution of underground projects with expertise in drill and blast methods in a Greenfields project environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop structured team/project plans (including scheduling, resourcing and communication/engagement) to ensure preparation is sufficient to achieve required outcomes and planning is aligned with broader organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects and operational objectives, managing and mitigating risks, monitoring progress, and effectively engaging resources to achieve required outcomes within agreed budget and timeframes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of Project Management financial management and scheduling tools/applications.
