A key component of decarbonising the world is the Mining and Minerals Industry which supplies the critical minerals required for this revolution. Wood is currently delivering critical metals projects (Battery and Magnet metals) all over the world, including Copper, Lithium, Vanadium, Rare Earths, and Base Metals projects.

Your role as the Senior Project Engineer, under limited direction, is to facilitate and support the successful delivery of Wood projects. You will initiate and develop strategies, and manage other team members during the course of the activity, resolving ad hoc issues as they arise.

As part of your role, you will be asked to undertake the following duties, but will not be limited to:
 

  • Initiate and develop deliverables as defined by the Client or Clients representative.
  • Working with other team members assist in establishing agreed client scopes of work, schedules, checklists and reporting mechanisms to meet the client needs.
  • Produce or aid in the production of Maps, Plans, Datasheets and Pipeline Alignment Sheets.
  • Provide timely reports regarding all discussions held and progress made.
  • Ensure all meetings with the client are minuted.
  • Prepare progress reports, including listing achievements and highlighting issues as required.
  • Work closely with other members of the team to ensure that client’s objectives are met in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance and take initiative for safety and environmental issues. 
     

Skills / Qualifications

Ideally you will have 7+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in a similar project engineering role within the mining industry. Brownfields mining project experience would also be advantageous.

You will also have the following:
 

  • Ability to manage multiple scope works, administer/control construction works and lead project HSE requirements
  • Extensive experience in the management of mining and minerals projects
  • Practiced in project control mechanisms and with commercial and technical risk assessments
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver to deadlines
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills
  • Strong site experience
  • Practical problem solving skills
