Project Development Manager

As a Project Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the development of onshore wind farm projects in Australia. You will lead and coordinate all aspects of project development, from site identification and feasibility assessments to securing permits and managing stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Lead the identification and evaluation of potential sites for onshore wind farm projects, considering technical, environmental, and regulatory factors.
  • Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies, including wind resource assessment, environmental impact assessment, and grid connection studies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to facilitate project development and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams, including engineers, environmental consultants, legal advisors, and contractors, to execute project development activities.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, environmental impact assessments, and other regulatory documents in compliance with Australian laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate land agreements, lease agreements, and power purchase agreements to secure project rights and off-take arrangements.
  • Monitor and manage project risks, identifying mitigation strategies and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Liaise with government agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay informed about regulatory changes and industry trends.
  • Represent our client in public consultations, community meetings, and industry events to promote project objectives and build positive relationships.
  • Prepare project development budgets, financial forecasts, and investment proposals, ensuring alignment with company objectives and financial targets.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project progress, challenges, and key milestones.
     

Requirements:
 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project development, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering utility-scale wind generation assets in Australia, from development through to commercial operation.
  • Strong understanding of Australian regulatory requirements and permitting processes for renewable energy projects.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities, anticipate challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency with current working rights in Australia.
