Project Controls Officer

 

Description:


The Project Controls Officer has responsibility to support the planning, analysis, control and reporting of the program of ICT Delivery projects and Technology Portfolio in accordance with the client Portfolio, Program and Technology Project Management Framework (T-P3MF).

The Project Controls Officer will also assist with coaching and mentoring project managers and project teams involved in the delivery of the projects with the setup and maintenance of projects in the system, embedding the T-P3MF processes and practices, and will promote Project Management Group strategy, governance, and standards.

Responsibilities
 

  • Support the embedding of the T-P3MF processes for the ongoing control and forecasting of the schedules, costs, progress and risks, and assisting other team members, including Project Managers, to use and comply with the systems and processes.
  • Support the maintenance of the management dashboards and reports to provide an objective assessment of actual progress against forecast and ensure the quality of information is accurate and current.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of assigned projects within the program to ensure quality and accuracy of data and information.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of a change management process for assigned projects.
  • Providing technical advice in the use of T-P3MF software and tools including Project Online and Microsoft Project.
  • Support the capture of project data and lessons learned, and proactively facilitate the inclusion of these into future projects where applicable. Represent ICT Delivery at client wide collaborative forums, as requested by the Portfolio Management Office.
  • Ensure that effective interfaces, communications and information sharing are maintained across business units within the client.
  • Positively promote and actively role model the client’s values and behaviours to support the delivery of our services.
     

Requirements

Technical
 

  • High level analytical and conceptual skills including the ability to analyse data, identify implement appropriate solutions.
  • The administration of projects including time and cost control processes.
  • The preparation of reports, spreadsheets and correspondence.
  • The use of financial systems and databases.
  • Cost estimating and scheduling on major projects and across portfolios.
  • Ability to positively influence the actions of Project Managers to drive behavioural change and performance improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload, work autonomously and/or as part of a team.
  • Ability and drive to work under pressure to accurately meet mutually agreed deadlines, schedules and time commitments.
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of products including MS Project and Project Online.
