Project Accountant

The Role

This position is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, preparing invoices and project financial reporting and have components of Cost Control.

Reporting directly to the Business Manager responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Prepare monthly financial reports and records.
• Analyse financial reports and records
• Liaising with senior stakeholders in relation to monthly results
• Assist with analysis of operating performance
• Provide reports to the Business manager on monthly results and forecast
• Utilise company financial database (SAP) to set-up new projects and manage financial results
• Reviewing journal entries ensuring appropriate documentation and accuracy.
• Performing variance analysis and preparing A/C reconciliations.
• Making recommendations / improvements based on financial analysis and critical thinking.
• Liaise with customer, external suppliers, and auditors
• Prepare client invoices and process sub-contractor and supplier invoices
• Ad hoc duties and projects as specified by the Business Manager/Program Director

Required Qualifications, Experience And Knowledge

• Tertiary qualified in an accounting or business degree, with proven experience in project controlling/accounting
• Experience in a Defence project environment would be advantageous
• Proficiency in the use of financial systems and data bases. including (but not limited to) MS Project and SAP (highly desirable)
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software applications, particularly MS Excel is essential
• Australian Citizen with a current AGSVA clearance or the ability to obtain on
