The Pro Vice-Chancellor & Chief Executive VET will play an integral role in providing strategic leadership and operational management of the VET Portfolio.

Reporting to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Chief Academic Officer, this position will contribute to the development and achievement of the University’s strategic vision and goals and ensures that the strategic direction for VET is aligned with the overall Swinburne 2025 Strategic Plan.

This position will have delegated responsibility for all VET programs of the University, leading the design, development, delivery and evaluation of innovative, high-quality education and training programs. The position will also have responsibility for the continuous improvement, operational budgets, quality assurance and the development and engagement of a high performing workforce.

The PVC & Chief Executive VET will also represent the University at State and Federal Government levels in relation to developments in VET programs and policy. Importantly, this position requires the ability to maintain excellent Government Relations in terms of interacting and influencing decision making.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including high level negotiation and consulting skills.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with Government Departments, sector networks and other agencies.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a member of a high-performance leadership team in the formulation, development and implementation of critical business strategies to deliver on performance objectives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Vocational Education and Training sector and the ability to understand and interpret government policy to inform Swinburne’s business strategy and operations.
