Description:
This role delivers a diverse range of functions including enterprise architecture to support quality decision making. Customer centricity is key as this position is the conduit between the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) and the organisation, with a focus on understanding organisational pain points and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead portfolio planning for the EPMO and set the Branch up for success with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Support the delivery of strategically important initiatives.
- Establishment and maintenance of a central project register and portfolio plan.
- Reporting on project activities and identified risks.
- Work with initiative leads to identify and facilitate resolution of conflicting priorities, dependencies, risks and issues that may impact the delivery of portfolio outcomes and achievement of business benefits.
- Identifying and resolving conflicting priorities, maintaining watch on risks and issues, monitoring implementation progress and tracking benefits and opportunities for improvement.
- Providing detailed project planning, maintenance, monitoring and reporting.
- Provide consulting / analysis services to support business needs and approved projects and priorities.
- Facilitate problem identification, analysis and requirements gathering including cost benefit / value, impact and sustainability analysis.
- Facilitate the assessment for new business and enhancements.
- Facilitate and coordinate solution options analysis and evaluation to encourage responsible and appropriate ICT decisions and investments which deliver value for Council
- Identify and leverage opportunities for professional development and positive engagement with relevant industry activities to build knowledge, maturity and future growth and direction.
- Apply effective and engaging interpersonal skills to ensure complex concepts are communicated in plain language.
- Build collaborative and respectful relationships with key project partners and stakeholders.
- Develop, implement and manage a range of appropriate communication channels to ensure regular and consistent messaging is delivered to stakeholders.
About You
- Extensive experience delivering large programs of work / project portfolios.
- Knowledge of the breadth and complexity of project / program / portfolio management (P3M).
- Experience within a public sector environment, preferably within a local council (highly regarded).
- Demonstrated experience in a portfolio office or similar function communicating, liaising and building trusted relationships with staff across organisational boundaries.
- Strong time management skills, self-motivation with the ability to remain innovative under pressure.
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise while working to demanding deadlines.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills to write and / or interpret business cases, reports and other documentation.
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills in a specialist / technical environment.
- Ability to identify and facilitate cooperation amongst stakeholders where conflicting agendas or motivators may exist.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in relevant fields such as business management, project management, information management, engineering, human services or similar (e.g. Bachelor of Business).
- Credentials and / or certification in relevant fields such as change management, agile methodology (e.g. PROSCI, Agile fundamentals, ITIL).
- Membership with relevant industry association or peak body (e.g. Project Management Institute, Change Management Institute, Asset Management Council, CPA).
