Description:

  • Installs and maintains complete plumbing systems including storm and sanitary sewers, septic systems and various water, oxygen, air, gas, medical gas, nitrous oxide, fire lines, vacuum and vent systems.
  • Performs major and minor repairs to all pumps; repacking and/or repairing of all valves
  • and expansion joints, repairs to high- and low-pressure steam traps, air vents, booster
  • heaters, hot water generators and other steam operated equipment.
  • Performs mechanical repairs (e.g., valves, gears, etc.) to various types of equipment that are assigned to the Plumbing and Mechanical Shop.
  • Complete their work without undue interruption to the work assignment to the work assignments and only consults with his supervisor on problems which are unique.
  • Pipe jointing by threading, soft soldering, silver soldering, expansion joints, various type clamps or any other process recognized by code pertaining to steam.
  • According to codes and manufacturers specifications, correctly installs and make necessary repairs to all piping systems such as water, gas ,steam, sewer, chilled water, hot water, medical air, medical vacuumed, oxygen , nitrous oxide, nitrogen, deionized water and chlorine to include all valves, pressure reducing valves, steam traps, strainers, pop-off valves, back flow preventers, pumps, gauges, pressure regulators and controls.
  • Read schematic drawings on equipment and blueprints in day-to-day work.
  • Plan and layout the installation, modification and repair of various piping systems and equipment, e.g., steam systems, hot water systems, hot water generators, sterilizers, building heating system, kitchen equipment and circulating pumps.
  • Use shop arithmetic to lay out angles, arcs and circles.
  • Maintains adequate supply of tools, parts, and materials for routine maintenance, construction, and repair.
  • Performs mechanical repairs (e.g., valves, gears, etc.) to various types of equipment
  • that is assigned to the Plumbing and Mechanical Shop.
  • Observe and enforce safety regulations and exercise care and good judgment in performing duties in order to prevent injury to self or others.
  • Use sound judgment in various types of piping and equipment installation to ensure professional results across the entire health care facility.
  • Interpret work orders, specifications, and blueprints in order to determine the best methods of accomplishing his/her work, with a minimum of instructions concerning the work methods or materials needed to do the job at hand.
