An opportunity currently exists for a Grade 2 physiotherapist to join the physiotherapy department. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality, overall physiotherapy management to patients admitted within units serviced by the cardiorespiratory team at Fitzroy campus of St. Vincent’s Hospital. The role is also responsible for supervision of students, Grade 1 staff, and Allied Health Assistants and taking a leadership role within the department and other duties as directed/delegated.

Applications from current grade two physiotherapists or suitably experienced grade one physiotherapists will be considered. Relevant postgraduate qualifications would also be highly regarded.

Duties include
 

• Provide appropriate clinical management for patients admitted under units serviced by the cardiorespiratory team (ICU/HDU, ED, general medicine, surgical, cardiothoracic, respiratory, special medicine).
• Assessment, planning and treatment including education for all patients admitted under units serviced by the cardiorespiratory team.
• Communicate assessment and treatment outcomes to nursing, medical and other Allied Health staff via documentation and handovers.
• Clinical supervision and teaching of physiotherapy students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, as required.
• Develop and promote new initiatives regarding service provision.
• Provide training for grade 1 physiotherapists to work on the weekend service.
