Job Description

The role of Operations Manager will be to manage the pickup/delivery fleet and handling resources of the Toll Intermodal and Specialised Branch located at West Melbourne. The role will be accountable for the safety, financial and operational performance of the Operation.

You will be safety minded with a drive for success and to lead, guide and support a team.

Your duties will include –

  • Supervise the staff responsible for the day-to-day execution of pickup/delivery tasks (transport)
  • Supervise the staff responsible for the day-to-day execution of handling tasks (warehouse)
  • Support all financial objectives and drive initiatives relevant to the site
  • Take appropriate action with relevant employees in the event of misconduct or disciplinary breaches. (consult with HR Department)
  • Monitor RDO/Annual leave and absenteeism for all operational staff
  • Ensure all staff on site are appropriately inducted and trained in all aspects of their work so as to ensure that both the personal safety of the individual and others is protected
  • Ensure the ongoing effectiveness of our site WHSO and provide support and direction to the site safety committee as required.

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, we require:

  • Prior experience in a similar operational role
  • Sound knowledge of Office 365, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Safety minded
  • Understanding of and the ability to implement the applicable Workplace Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Adequate numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to implement and drive change
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees
  • Perform duties in high pressure situations whilst remaining calm
