What is the role
We are looking for a Member Claims Team Leader with demonstrated people management skills and looking to take the next step in their career, to join our team.
About the role
The Member Claims Team Leader role is an integral part of the team assisting the Member Benefits Manager to support HIF’s strategic business goals through the enhancement of the customer experience and continual improvement through cost-effective extras and medical claims management processes and practices. This key leadership role will demonstrate an understanding of the Australian health industry including the private health insurance sector and provide support, development, and coaching to a team of dedicated claims advisors and ensure accurate and timely claims processing in accordance with fund policies, procedures, risk/audit requirements and within agreed service levels.
You will be given ample training at our Perth office to ensure that you are given all the right resources to succeed in the role.
What we're looking for in you
There are some essential things we are looking for;

  • Experience in the health industry through a senior role in either a health insurance organisation, a private or public hospital, medical practice or the allied health sector.
  • High level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to motivate, develop, coach and empower team members to ensure they are confident and equipped to deliver exceptional service
  • Demonstrated experience establishing team and individual objectives while continually measuring and reviewing performance indicators against individual / team targets
  • Ability to resolve escalated member and third-party enquiries, in accordance with relevant legislation and HIF fund rules, complaints handling process and delegated authority.
  • The ability to apply effective and consistent leadership and communication skills creating clarity, connection and sense of community within the team
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian health industry including health insurance, private and public hospital, medical and allied health services.
