THE ROLE
We are seeking a suitably qualified Medical Research Officer or Laboratory Technician to work with Prof Yuling Wang and Dr Simon Tsao on the funded Cancer Council NSW project (RG 12-22).You are expected to:
Be part of an innovative project to perform a range of laboratory tests and technical tasks by applying established methods and procedures as directed;
Undertake the data management and collection tasks on REDCap database;
Collect patient data from medical records and data entry;
Perform participant recruitment and management for Biobanking Study;
Prepare, submit and follow up the research ethics and governance applications and amendments;
Aid the preparation and writing of grant applications, and drafting of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
Develop and maintain the project documents;
Maintain equipment in line with established laboratory process, procedures and protocols

Essential criteria:
To be successful in this position you will demonstrate:
A relevant tertiary qualification and ideally some research experience in the clinical field;
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivery of laboratory tasks;
Expert in database creation and management using RedCap;
Familiarity with molecular biology, bioassay and bioanalysis;
Database data cleaning, data management and the preparation of reports.
Familiar working in a hospital setting, working with clinicians and patients.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all key stakeholders including investigators, health care providers, patients and research participants;
Highly organised with a proven ability to prioritise tasks in a busy research environment;
Proven ability to coordinate a large research portfolio and undertake research-related tasks in a timely and effective manner;
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Desired criteria:
Experience in clinical research with tissue/blood sample collections, processing and storage;
Extra qualifications in clinical research competency (e.g GCP);
Evidence of further education including post-graduate certification/diploma/continuous professional development.
