Description:

The OH&S Senior Business Partner – Psychosocial Safety & Medical Management of Students position is dedicated to ensuring the psychosocial safety of our staff and students while at the same time fostering an environment conducive to academic growth. The incumbent will be accountable for leading the review, establishment, implementation, and evaluation of policy and process systems to support staff and students to be psychologically safe and recover from illness or mental health concerns as quickly as possible.

With an emphasis and focus on proactive and continuous improvement of management systems designed to improve health and wellbeing outcomes, mitigate risk, reduce the incidence of psychological harm amongst our employees. Another aspect of the role is the development of policies and procedures to pertaining to the psychological and medical management needs of U18 students. The role ensures business leaders are supported with timely information and advice to efficiently manage psychosocial safety and deliver outcomes in line with Chisholm’s strategy.

This Position Is Primarily Responsible For
 

  • The development and implementation of systems and initiatives to continuously improve health and psychological outcomes for all Chisholm employees and students, creating a culture that promotes accountability and values the health and psychosocial safety of our employees
  • The development and implementation of systems and processes to effectively manage the delivery, management and administration of medication or health support to students (including emergency first aid)
  • Providing expert psychosocial safety advice and support Chisholm managers, including incident investigations, root cause analysis and follow-up support
  • Conducting regular audits, reporting, and trend analysis to monitor and measure performance, identifying improvement opportunities
  • Preparing a range of briefing papers and reports for internal stakeholders, highlighting the status and effectiveness of psychosocial safety measures.
     

The incumbent is a key and active member of the Occupational Health and Safety team and the broader People Culture and Safety (PCS) team, providing expertise across the Business Partnering team, and Chisholm.

About You

You will have relevant qualifications, skills and experience in:
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management, or a related field, or subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience.
  • Certified Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner (or higher) with the Australian Institute of Health & Safety or willingness to obtain certification (
  • Proven competency in the provision of expert OHS management, quality management systems, or a related field in a complex, multi-risk environment
  • Proven experience in policy development, particularly in the context of psychosocial safety and management of individual health plans
  • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective solutions
  • Experience in health and safety reporting, incident management and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and apply the OHS Act and other relevant legislation, compliance codes, Australian standards, and guidance documentation
  • Ability to interpret medical documents
  • Ability to work collaboratively, build strong internal relationships, influence through credibility, and negotiate through organisational resistance
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise own workload, and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • High level written skills and the capacity to prepare a range of papers, communications etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Sensitivity to the cultural, social, and emotional diversity of students, including those under 18 years of age
  • Commitment to the well-being and safety of students, including those under 18 years of age
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft and database applications.
