Your opportunity
 

The Medical Director is a newly created, Perth based position that is a broad and highly technical role that provides specialist advice over multiple disciplines. It is an important position that will provide medical leadership and expert advice, including continuous improvement activities for HBF Health and its subsidiaries.
 

Working with the Executive General Manager Health, you will establish the internal function to deliver the following:
 

• Review of pre-existing member claims to ensure benefits are appropriately paid to eligible members;
• Oversight of ex-gratia requests that come in from both doctors and our members. This position will be responsible for completing full analysis of this process and guidelines, and will be required to dissect these requests and provide recommendation for action;
• Working closely with General Manager Business Integrity and team, this role will provide key input and guidance in relation to any audits undertaken. This may include revising key documents and providing sound interpretation;
• Perform part of any required audits and be able to speak and debate during any challenges or queries that may arise via other parties;
• Provide clinical advice and leadership within the business, and eventually also to members as we build the clinical team; and
• Assist with building the clinical knowledge base of HBF employees for both internal projects as well as member facing deliverables.

Your skills
 

• This is a highly technical role and is required (as per legislation) that the incumbent has unrestricted general registration with the Medical Board of Australia
• Recognised clinical experience and/or postgraduate qualifications commensurate with medical administration role
• Experience in a senior management role within the health sector
• Demonstrated strategic management and planning skills
• Demonstrated experience in the application of continuous quality improvement principles including change management and the implementation and evaluation of integrated governance strategies
