Description:
This role is responsible to assemble mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a specific area of a production line under tna specifications, following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricates and assembles tna products, as specified by work orders, diagrams, and templates, using hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery.
- Fits and assembles components, using fixtures, hand tools, and portable power tools, such as grinders, drills, power wrenches, and riveters.
- Operates production line equipment of a level of complexity requiring the specified training or assembling products, units, machines, equipment, and/or subassemblies.
- Mounts and connects auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment, cuts and fits pipe and tubing.
- Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files or portable grinders, to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
- Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together, using hand tools or portable powered tools.
- Drills, taps, or reams holes, using drill press or portable drill.
- Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement.
- May align and mesh gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears.
- May operate drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation.
- May test or assist in testing operation of completed product.
- Operates machines, such as shears, cutoff saws, brakes, punch press, form roll and drill press, to cut and shape components to specified dimensions.
- Interpreting engineering drawings and schematics to complete the build of test equipment.
- Support Assembly department, including tracking stock levels for parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
- Consulting with the quality department to report any quality issues.
- Reviewing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of Mechanical Engineers.
- Conducting Mechanical tests on machines and components.
- Participate in Mechanical work on competency development activities.
- Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations, and customer provinces.
- Building mechanical parts, welding frames, and assembling
Qualification and experience
- Trade qualifications in mechanical Assembly or Fitter
- 1-2 years’ mechanical assembly experience
