Job Description Summary
The Senior Marketing Manager will have responsibility for the development and implementation of the marketing strategy for key products within our CF portfolio. The Senior Marketing Manager will support the advancement of our omnichannel capability and shape how Vertex leverages digital channels to enhance customer engagement. In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring the Vertex Patient Support Program (PSP) supports optimal outcomes for patients on all Vertex cystic fibrosis (CF) therapies.
The role requires in-depth knowledge of strategic marketing in a biotech or highly specialised pharmaceutical therapy area to understand the market, healthcare professional and patient needs to deliver tailored, effective programs for people living with CF, their carers and the CF teams who look after them.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing (Marketing Director), the individual will work closely with Marketing and Sales team members to ensure quality outputs and implementation. They will work cross functionally and in close collaboration with Australian Medical and Regulatory colleagues as well as liaising with the International Commercial team (London) and international Country Marketing colleagues.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and updates marketing materials which are aligned with marketing strategy and business objectives (including branded websites, interactive visual aids, sales brochures, etc.)
Ensure that the patient and clinic services provided by the external provider on Vertex's behalf are maintained at best-in-class
Liaise directly between the patient services provider, the CF clinics, and the Vertex field-based sales team to ensure seamless communication and effective collaboration between all parties
Work with the patient services provider on the recruitment, training and ongoing supervision of the case managers and nurses employed in their respective programs
Monitor, track, analyse and further develop the performance of the patient services to support optimum patient outcomes from Vertex CF medicines
Work closely with legal, regulatory and medical colleagues to ensure compliance of resources and activities
Develop and implement the annual strategic plan and tactics for allocated product in line with local and international critical success factors for allocated brand:
o develop a high level of technical and clinical knowledge as the internal brand expert
o develop communication resources and promotional activities according to brand plan
o manage creative agencies and other vendors for efficient execution against tactical plan develop and deliver the training for the sales team and work in close collaboration with sales team for implementation of communication plan and tactics
o Review and evaluate tactics, in-field activity, sales performance and ROI to ensure continually improved delivery of Australian sales and marketing strategies and tactics
o Ensure compliance with Vertex processes including contracting, global spend transparency (GST), and with Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
o Manage commercial budget process, including budget planning, raising and managing purchase orders and budget tracking for areas of responsibility

EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's degree in marketing, business and/or a science discipline required. Master’s degree preferred.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the specialty pharmaceutical and/or biotech industries; with demonstrated progression of responsibility in marketing discipline
Orphan drug, rare disease preferable
Experience in specialist pharmaceutical marketing or sales role preferable
Experience in strategic & tactical implementation and project planning
Is results oriented with excellent analytic, communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively as part of highly matrixed, cross functional teams
Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities on multiple projects
Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals
Ability to work autonomously and make decisions within defined remit
Willingness to travel locally and internationally
