Manufacturing Engineer

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its Crystal Springs, Mississippi location. This role is responsible for development and application of assembly and testing processes and utilization of specialized equipment including PC control systems, database interfaces, high voltage equipment, and measurement devices to efficiently fabricate, produce, modify or repair power transformers. This role also provides technical and process assistance for test floor and production systems as well as conduct economic studies and prepare specifications, proposals for contracts, licensing and safety documents, and obtain required approvals

• Design, analyze, and evaluate all systems for transformers, ensuring reliability and availability.
• Conceptualize, plan and install high voltage tests systems including partial discharge measurement, impulse test, and AC test sets for testing power transformers.
• Customize and develop safety systems to enable safe and reliable use of high voltage test systems.
• Under limited direction, perform a variety of complex engineering assignments requiring in-depth knowledge of a Transformer winding, testing and assembly processes, plus an understanding of each related disciplines to achieve an effective cost savings objectives.
• Assignments typically require the use of advanced and innovative techniques.
• Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
• Experience with programming PLCs is ideal but not essential.
• Experience using and implementing lean production system or tools to achieve operational efficiency and waste reduction.
• Ideally have experience with analysis of transformer manufacturing defects and development of solutions with proven sustainable results. If no prior experience, as minimum have experience working in similar manufacturing environments.
