Description:
An opportunity exists for a talented and experienced marketing leader to join Council and lead a team of around 25 client services, marketing, communication and insights professionals. Reporting directly to the General Manager of City Communication, the structure can be described as an internal agency, where the team builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders across all divisions and delivers strategic and operational marketing activities based upon organisational objectives, consumer research and insights and creative, industry-leading marketing and communications solutions.
Key responsibilities include;
Work across Council divisions to effectively manage and enhance the Council brand strategy and citywide communication;
Lead and champion the mandated centralised approach to all marketing and communication activities across Council;
Work closely with program areas as a key strategic partner to help plan and deliver their annual marketing and communications plans;
Proactively establish, develop and facilitate positive working relationships with the Lord Mayor's Office, Councillors, Chief Executive's Office, Executive Management Team, all divisions and business units and other key stakeholders;
Introduce effective performance indicators to measure and report on marketing and communication activities, ROI and achievements;
Be accountable for, and drive the strategic development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of marketing and communication for the whole of Council;
Balance the strategic and operational requirements of the role to maintain and further enhance the quality and effectiveness of Council's marketing and communication activities;
Ensure appropriate recognition of Council's contribution and sponsorship of events, groups and activities;
Provide inspirational leadership to the Client Services and Marketing team; fostering a culture of performance excellence, customer focus, collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
About you
This exciting role demands a marketing leader who has proven their ability to deliver coordinated, responsive and customer-focused solutions across large and complex organisational structures. To be considered, your background and experience must meet the following requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, business, communications or other related field, with at least 10 years' experience gained within reputable marketing agencies and/or large corporate entities;
Demonstrated experience in the development, management and evaluation of corporate brand strategies;
Significant, high-level experience in delivering strategic marketing and communication campaigns and plans across multi-divisional organisations;
Proven experience in managing complex and contentious issues with high sensitivity and competing stakeholder interests in a political environment;
The ability to develop and maintain relationships across organisational boundaries to drive the direction of resources and corporate priorities to ensure the consistent delivery of outcomes;
The proven ability to develop and foster an engaged, productive and customer-focused workforce;
The ability to effectively participate in strategic decision making, and represent Brisbane City Council to the community, other levels of Government and to industry;
Champion the strategic corporate management agendas on issues such as customer service, service delivery, change management and people management, and integrate these principles into the operation of your team;
Own and champion corporate values, strategies, policy and directions, particularly: Council Values, Code of Conduct, Future Council, Workplace Justice, Diversity, Zero Harm and Flexible Work Arrangements.
