Lead, guide, mentor and develop the Career Development, Student Success team at Curtin University!

We are seeking a passionate and strong team leader to help make a difference to student’s lives and join our Student Success team as the Manager, Career Development.

Student Success contributes to the overall success of Curtin students, supporting students in their transition to graduate employment and/or further study. They develop strategic partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver appropriate services and programs, providing consultation and advice to assist and improve the skills and capacity of university staff to respond to students’ career development learning needs.

Student Success has successfully launched their operational plan for 2023 and beyond, based on the overall strategic plan for Curtin University. With this is mind, we are looking for someone with a keen interest in putting their mark on shaping our team and how we achieve our goals moving forward.

As the Manager, Career Development, you will provide leadership to our dynamic Careers Team and act as a key member of the Student Success leadership group. You will have the opportunity to meet a variety of different people and gain exposure to the many coursework options we offer at Curtin University.

You will work in partnership with faculty stakeholders and lead our team in providing consultancy on career development, oversight of the integration and embedding of career development learning in curriculum, career education programs and individual support to students.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure the effective operation of the Career team by providing leadership and guidance, monitor processes to maximise strong and positive relationships with all stakeholders, and ensuring effective and regular reporting to the Manager, Employability Partnerships.
  • Liaise with Student Success Leadership Group and work closely with other areas within the portfolio, including other team leaders, to ensure alignment of activities with broader Student Success plans and priorities.
  • Participate on working parties and represent the Manager, Employability Partnerships on committees and in meetings, internally and externally, as required.
  • Travel interstate and/or overseas when required.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • Progress towards or completion of a postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position.
  • Experience in leading a motivated and knowledgeable team that are passionate advocates for student success.
  • Transferrable experience and expertise that can be applied to the tertiary education environment i.e. experience in learning and development, teaching, human resources etc.
  • Working understanding of the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners.

As this is a continuing (permanent) position, you will require work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
