Description:

A fixed-term Manager position is available to lead critical work in the Aboriginal Strategy Unit within the Policy and Design Branch at Family Safety Victoria.

Reporting to the Director, Aboriginal Strategy Unit, the Manager will work as part of a collaborative leadership team to support the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum and the implementation of its strategic priorities. The Forum is the key governance structure that brings together Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal services and Government to create a future where Aboriginal people live free from family violence.

The Manager will provide leadership and direction for a range of Aboriginal governance structures and provide high quality secretariat, policy, project and reporting support to monitor progress and deliver actions against: Dhelk Dja: Safe Our Way – Strong Culture, Strong Peoples, Strong Families, the new Aboriginal 10 year Family Violence Agreement; Royal Commission into Family Violence Recommendations and recommendations arising from the Review of Indigenous Family Violence Regional Action Groups (now Dhelk Dja Action Groups).

The Manager will lead projects and areas of reform in consultation with the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum to progress the vision and strategic priorities of Dhelk Dja and its Action Plans, including for example, the development and implementation of an Aboriginal-led Family Violence Industry Strategy.

The Manager will build strong relationships across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal services, Family Safety Victoria, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and other government departments/agencies to support outcomes in line with Dhelk Dja. The Manager role will provide management and leadership support for a small team, and work as part of a collaborative Aboriginal Strategy Unit leadership group.
