Australian Unity is looking for Legal Counsel.
The position
The Legal Counsel will work closely with other members of the Independent & Assisted Living (IAL) Governance team to deliver high quality, independently-minded and commercially-focused legal services aligned to the strategic and commercial drivers of businesses within the IAL platform, which is part of the Australian Unity Group.
- Provide high quality, independently-minded and commercially-focused legal advice on a wide range of matters affecting the IAL platform in a timely and effective manner.
- Where required, provide legal advice in a manner that is consistent with attracting and maintaining legal professional privilege.
- Advise on the implementation of specific compliance and legislative requirements.
- Develop an understanding of the guiding business principles and opportunities, as well as resident/client/family sensibilities and needs.
- Review, draft and/or negotiate (and as required instruct and manage external advice on) agreements and other legal documents for the Residential Communities (Aged Care and Retirement Communities), Home Care Services, Disability Services, Health Services (Remedy and Dental) and Indigenous Services businesses in a manner that satisfies business needs, whilst appropriately managing legal risk, including services, consultancy, procurement, supply, IT and joint venture agreements and leases.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in law
- Admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory
- Current practicing certificate
- 4 – 6 years of relevant experience in private practice or an in-house legal function
