Bechtel, a global leader in project management, engineering, procurement and construction, has been selected by Western Sydney Airport Co as its Delivery Partner for the Western Sydney Airport, a $5.3 billion greenfield facility in Badgerys Creek, New South Wales. This will be a landmark project for both New South Wales and Australia and is due for completion at the end of 2026.

The Lead Project Engineer ICT will report to the Project Engineering Manager and will supervise the engineering activity (all disciplines) associated with the ICT and other designated portions of the project work and the execution of studies and the method of delivery. The preferred candidate must have an ability to effectively communicate with a variety of technical and managerial professionals experienced in the design and operation of unique facilities that support airport special systems and airport network integration.

Summary

• Supervise design work for a broad range of engineering disciplines.
• Plans and directs engineering assignments on the project.
• Devises new approaches to solving problems.
• Broad working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines.
• Plans and coordinates independent work requiring judgment and experience in the application and substantial adaptation of engineering techniques.
• Coordinates technical issues with other departments on projects which may include constructability requirements and technical reviews.
• Broad knowledge of precedents in the aviation industry and all relevant disciplines applicable to airport and terminal engineering design .
• As directed, manages the complex organizational interactions that evolve from the participation of several Bechtel entities on the project or from client-established relationships with other contractors.
• Establishes and maintains access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project and sets up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort.
