Description:


We are currently seeking a Lead Mechanical/Piping Engineer to join our client’s site-based team to work on brownfields upgrades to their client's refinery operations in Pinjara, Western Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the Project requirements relating to scope, cost and schedule, manage and review the Engineering Work Packages (EWP) associated with all deliverables.

It is envisioned the candidate will have extensive experience within the minerals, metals, mining and/or oil and gas industries as well as specific involvement in construction design of production plants and facilities.

Responsibilities
 

  • Initiate, manage, and supervise engineering assignments to meet project requirements within time and budget constraints.
  • Perform discipline-specific engineering services, including scope management, detailed design, studies, and document preparation.
  • Estimate engineering hours, track budgets, and offer guidance during procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Provide specialized technical support, supervision, and advice to project and discipline teams.
  • Supervise the team, assign tasks, offer training, and lead on projects.
  • Evaluate vendor equipment proposals and resolve issues with innovative solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments and technical innovations in the discipline.
     

What You Will Bring
 

  • An Australian recognised Bachelor qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • Eligible for membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Extensive technical and leadership experience in the Mechanical and Piping disciplines, including leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of Mechanical and Piping Engineering, including:
    • Brownfields Engineering
    • Equipment layout
    • Design of pump and piping systems
    • Fluid system analysis and design particularly of slurry systems
    • Pipe stress analysis
    • Design of pressure equipment
    • Design of materials handling equipment
    • Read and interpret drawings, including general mechanical, piping and P&ID drawings.
    • Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline specific including: AFT Fathom / Fluid Flow 3, Non compressible and compressible fluid system analysis. Navisworks, Bluebeam / Adobe Suite etc
