Lead Electrical Designer
Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver discipline-specific design and drafting services meeting Client's company, client, and regulatory standards.
- Lead and manage the resourcing of the project electrical design team to meet project requirements on time and within budget.
- Ensure clarity of project scope and compliance with change management processes.
- Oversee the production of engineering drawings and documentation, ensuring adherence to Client's company checking procedures.
- Initiate, manage, and supervise design and drafting assignments with the home office and Workshare team.
- Ensure technical integrity of discipline deliverables through checking and design review activities.
- Provide technical direction, control, and supervision for design on the project.
- Manage quality, consistency, and change control within the discipline.
- Coordinate design activities with other disciplines and facilitate squad checking of deliverables.
- Motivate and manage the team's performance, competency, and development, including on-the-job training.
- Assist in scoping requirements and estimating design budget for Lead Engineers.
- Support the discipline in interviewing candidates for the project.
- Communicate effectively with project Lead Engineers, other discipline teams, Workshare team, and Project Engineers/Managers.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships within Client's company, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, and develop innovative solutions as needed.
Requirements
- A recognized design qualification (Advanced Diploma) in Electrical discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in designing and drafting, with at least 5 years in resources or closely allied industries.
- Proven experience in a lead role managing designers on brownfield and/or greenfield projects in a consulting environment.
- Experience in working with workshare offices.
- Proficiency in AVEVA 3D modeling packages (PDMS, E3D), AutoCAD, Microstation (2D & 3D), and lighting design software (DIALux, AGi32).
- Competency in relevant software such as MS Office Suite, PDF Exchange, and Bluebeam.
- Experience in the selection of electrical equipment and designing various electrical deliverables.
- Highly preferred: Knowledge of hazardous areas with formal training, experience with Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL) software.
