Transport for NSW is looking for Lead Business Analyst 

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Providing strategic advice about the feasibility and suitability of proposed solutions to ensure they meet the business's direction, optimising business performance.
  • Preparing, driving and developing the business case supporting documentation in partnership with clients, and acting as a subject matter expert responsible for facilitating essential requirements workshops, walkthroughs, business process reviews/re-engineering and documenting both functional and technical business requirements.
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation is produced such as business and functional requirements, technical/interface designs, business process models, user stories/requirements and user case scenarios, as appropriate for the business need.
  • Facilitating strong working relationships with key stakeholders to support collaboration, exchanging information, ideas and solutions and to influence outcomes.
  • Working with key stakeholders to define business requirements and trends with a comprehensive analysis of alternate solutions (internal and external) to enable informed business decisions, and service level improvements Continuously drive agility and flexibility in responding to business and industry changes
  • Implementing and applying contemporary frameworks and methodologies and driving the development and maturity of IT processes in the area of business analysis, business process management and solution delivery.
  • Staying abreast of leading-edge technology and always considering frugal innovation options in preparing possible solutions for the business.
  • Leading and managing the delivery of detailed analysis of the business environment, people, processes and systems to capture business requirements accurately and facilitating the development of business solutions that address business needs.

Direct Reports

The role will have a variable number of direct and indirect reports depending on business/ project requirements.

About You

You are a problem solver, with a can-do attitude, resourceful, and creative. You understand the importance of relationship and respect difference, skilfully embracing antithetical views to ensure your work is robustly tested. You are a seasoned Business Analyst with strong communication skills and the ability to deeply understand your clients, and their business, and rapidly solve their challenges and offer them guidance to what they didn’t know to ask for.

  • Extensive and demonstrated experience conducting analysis of business requirements across a complex portfolio of initiatives and experience interpreting and translating analysis results into insightful, clear and succinct technical specifications and requirement documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of and extensive experience in the application of contemporary business analysis best-practice frameworks such as BABOK, Object Oriented Analysis and Design – Experience in mapping & articulating process using Human Centric Design is highly desirable.
  • Experience in leading and developing functional and non-functional requirements for business solutions.
  • Thorough knowledge of IIBA & ITIL framework, preferably certified in any or both.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills along with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Excellent soft skills & facilitation skills and ability to interpret complex data in a clear concise manner.
  • Ability to solve problems, think and apply innovative processes to find a way forward, consider out of the box solutions that add a competitive value proposition to Greater Sydney.
  • Ability to interpret technical data to non-technical audience and vice versa.
