We are seeking suitably qualified Lecturers to come join the Swinburne Law School in 2023.

The School teaches undergraduate programs in law, including the Bachelor of Laws and the Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Criminology. The School has a focus on law and technology and practical skills. The School has an agenda of building a strong research culture that includes international collaboration, competitive grants and high-quality publications.

As a Lecturer, you will prepare and deliver classes including face to face, blended and online and assess students in all programs delivered by the School. This includes developing and supporting academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. It is expected you will also mentor and counsel students on academic matters and also supervise research students.

A contribution to the School’s research output is required. You will assume administrative tasks associated with normal teaching duties and will also contribute to School management and administration generally.

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching in law or criminal justice and criminology
  • Ability to contribute to teaching, associated administrative duties, coordination and curriculum development at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In particular, demonstrated capacity to teach in at least two of the key areas of law offered by the School
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovative education, including blended learning formats, online teaching and the use of case studies, role-plays and/or simulations in the learning environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of research in the university context, a capacity in the use of a variety of research methods and a track record of or demonstrated capacity to publishing in discipline relevant quality academic journals
  • An earned or substantial progress towards a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or a related field
  • A law degree that fulfills the academic requirements for admission to legal practice
  • Admission to legal practice (Desirable)
