Land And Property Officer

Description:

This role involves overseeing and actively participating in the management of the Council’s property portfolio to maximise returns and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies. You will be responsible for managing Council's property systems, including lease and license registers, and guiding the performance of external property management organisations. This role also requires contributing to the administration of Reserve and Council properties in line with multiple legislative acts, such as the Crown Land Act and Local Government Act.

You will be expected to collaborate with other Council sections in planning long-term property acquisitions and disposals, maintaining awareness of industry trends, and building internal and external networks to support property management functions. This role is pivotal in ensuring our property assets are efficiently managed and that they continue to meet the needs of the community.

We're looking for someone with
 

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in property management, including Public Land Management
• Extensive experience in property management, leasing, or related fields, including the preparation and management of leases and licenses
• Ability to interpret and implement legislation and government policies, such as Local Government Act 1993, Crown Land Management Act 2016, Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 and the Native Title Act 1993.
• Proven ability to work cooperatively within an organisation and build strong relationships with stakeholders
• Experience with financial computer systems, including account reconciliations
• High-level communication skills, including report writing, mediation, negotiation, and networking abilities
• Proficiency in computer literacy, particularly in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
