Description:
The Laboratory Technician, in collaboration with the Senior Laboratory Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
- Preparing and supplying materials and equipment for science practical classes, including the purchasing of materials and the dismantling and clean up of experiments and equipment.
- Preparing risk assessments for science practical classes by advising and assisting science teaching staff in safety matters relating to the science laboratory.
- Complying with standards and legislation by ensuring the safe handling and storage of hazardous substances, maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets and labelling chemicals correctly.
- Organising and maintaining laboratories and preparation areas by creating a safe, tidy, and clean environment.
- General administration duties including liaising with supply companies for quotations and procurement of resources.

- The demonstrated ability to work independently, using initiative, as well as the ability to work as apart of a team to deliver support to teaching staff.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Working knowledge of relevant computer applications.
- An understanding of Occupational Health and Safety issues.
Qualifications and/or experience relevant to the role is also highly desirable.

- Chemical Hazard Training.
- Hold or be working towards an Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School.
- Annually complete the online Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training.
