Intern Engineer

The position will see you play a key role in our Operational DER Management team, assisting in the development and application of power system models to gain understanding of the impacts of distributed energy recourses (DER) on power system security. This position has the possibility of a permanent role following the conclusion of your studies (for candidates that perform at an exceptional level, and where a suitable role is available)

What You Will Be Doing
 

• Play a role in developing, refining, and validating power system models.
• Analyse the behaviour for DERs during power system disturbances and incorporate these findings into models.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
• Develop management approaches for DER impacts on system security and propose mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
• Gain knowledge and experience of the energy industry, under guidance and mentorship from energy professionals and collaborate with other AEMO teams and external stakeholders.
  
   

What You Will Bring To The Role
 

• Presently working towards a tertiary qualification in electrical engineering or similar with a power system focus.
• Available to work 2-3 days per week during semester, and full time outside of semester (with flexibility to reduce hours as desired around exam periods)
• Enthusiasm for learning new skills and ability to learn quickly and thoroughly, with attention to detail.
• Experience in programming and strong quantitative skills.
• Ability to prepare high quality reports and summaries of analysis.
