The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) supports the development of profitable primary industries that create a more prosperous NSW and contributes to a better environment through the sustainable use of natural resources.

Within NSW DPI, the Biosecurity & Food Safety division is responsible for effective management and risk minimisation of biosecurity threats to NSW as well as the through-chain regulation of food safety. It delivers a risk-based approach to policy and compliance and provides regional engagement and coordination in response to emergency incidents impacting primary industries and the food sector.

Promote and drive engagement and communication activities to support NSW DPI and other organisations in NSW to minimise, respond to and manage biosecurity risks posed by invasive species. Contribute as a team member of the Invasive Species Biosecurity unit to help deliver a range of internal and external communication for the Department.

In this role your key accountabilities will be:

• Support the outcomes of the NSW Invasive Species Plan, the Weeds Action Program and the NSW Biosecurity Strategy.
• Assist in the development and management of dynamic and innovative communication and engagement channels including websites, social channels, media, and events.
• Work collaboratively with the Biosecurity and Food Safety Strategic Programs and Partnerships Unit through effective communication and issues management and develop partnerships where required to ensure project deliverables are met.
• Maintain and improve an interactive facility to exchange invasive species information between internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and update content on the NSW DPI invasive species pages and the weeds extranet.
• Research data and information to inform communications and engagement.
