Parkes Shire Council has a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced, energetic and collaborative professional to join our organisation in the role of Human Resources Specialist.
Driving the effective delivery of various Human Resource Management (HRM) functions across the end-to-end employee life cycle, you will have a key focus on employee recruitment, retention and development, remuneration, rewards and recognition. You will provide specialist industrial relations advice to internal stakeholders, conduct workplace investigations and support the effective operation of Council's Consultative Committee.
Reporting directly to our Executive Manager People, Safety and Culture, you will have the opportunity to shape this business-critical role into your own, and influencing a culture that supports performance through continuous improvement and best-practice approaches.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Relevant university qualifications in Human Resource Management, Business, Employee/Industrial Relations or related discipline.
Sound knowledge of Commonwealth, State and Local Government legislation impacting on HRM, recruitment and employee relations.
Demonstrated experience in analysing, interpreting, applying and providing advice on, legislation, industrial instruments/awards, and legal advice.
Demonstrated experience in conducting workplace investigations.
Sound project management skills and ability to plan, prioritise and execute multiple projects, including innovative approaches to problem diagnosis and resolution, and process improvement.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders in order to determine the best solution to achieve organisational outcomes.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications, or professional membership of the Australian Human Resources Institute, will be viewed favourably.
