Wilcannia Central School is located in Western NSW on the banks of the beautiful Darling River. We deliver tailored learning pathways for students from Preschool to Year 12, with 95% of our students identifying as Aboriginal. Our school has a current enrolment of 82 students.

As a Connected Communities school, supported by our local AECG, we are part of a network that builds strong partnerships with Aboriginal leaders, families, our wider community, and external agencies, to provide a holistic approach to education for all of our students.

Small class sizes allow for effective relationships to be established between staff, students and their families. We have a strong emphasis on student wellbeing, the delivery of quality differentiated literacy and numeracy programs as well as a commitment to delivery programs that demonstrate a culturally rich curriculum.

Staff at Wilcannia Central School are committed to continuous improvement enhanced by targeted professional learning, with opportunities existing for staff to be involved with future focused learning, STEM, cultural programs, outdoor education, and school promotion.

• Approval to teach Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) and willingness to coordinate school sport.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a faculty team to enhance reflective teaching practice, develop and successfully deliver differentiated programs and practices that challenge and meet the diverse needs of all students.
• Evidence of highly developed classroom practice that includes monitoring the progress of students and applying student behavioural strategies while fostering a culture of high expectations.
• Understanding of cultural and educational needs of ATSI students and a commitment to improving their educational outcomes.
• Capacity and willingness to contribute to whole school programs.
