Head Teacher Special

Description:

Bulahdelah Central School has a current enrolment of approximately 110 students in our primary and 280 students in our secondary department, including 3 multi-categorical classes in 2023, and 19% of student population identify as ATSI. The structures at Bulahdelah Central School provide learning opportunities for all students K-12. Current FOEI is 135 and has remained steady. Every student is supported to maximise their learning potential each year. The population is diverse but overall has remained steady over time. There is a small component of the population that is transient.
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

• Experience teaching students with behaviour difficulties, mild, moderate and severe intellectual disabilities, autism and emotional disturbance

• Demonstrated capacity to lead a diverse Special Education Faculty and provide direction for staff including SLSO’s with a wide range of experience

• Ability to lead faculty planning and curriculum implementation across the school that caters for a diverse range of learning needs

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
