Toronto High Schools vision is to be a school of inspiration, innovation and excellence. The school is a coeducational, comprehensive high school serving the local Toronto community on Awabakal country, approximately 40 minutes from Newcastle. Toronto High School has a student enrolment of approximately 1000 students including 60 students in support unit classes and 150 Aboriginal students. The school has a wide range of curricula, ranging from the Learning Enrichment Accelerated Pathway program (LEAP) through to individual tuition all incorporating a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy.
Toronto High School has a collaborative teaching focus with staff working in Professional Peer Learning Groups to develop, implement and evaluate teaching and learning programs, pedagogical practices and student outcomes. There is a strong emphasis on staff professional development and quality teaching practices.

This position will lead the PDHPE Faculty and will include additional whole school roles.Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE), Community and Family Studies (CAFS) or Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR). Demonstrated ability in leading, developing, monitoring and evaluating; quality policies, programs and practices to improve student engagement and learning for students from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively to lead, manage and implement class, faculty and whole school initiatives, strategies and processes that support the school’s strategic directions including the ability to implement and lead literacy, numeracy and HSC practice’s for improved student learning outcomes. Demonstrated capacity for strong and cohesive faculty leadership supporting the development and implementation of innovative curriculum, assessment, staff professional learning and practices. Demonstrated ability to implement, coordinate and contribute to whole school programs.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
