Responsibilities:

 

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Lead, motivate and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment.
  • This will include the setup and implementation of career development plans for all direct reports.
  • Spearhead the organization goals and exceed it through teamwork.
  • Be a Subject-Matter Expert on larger processes and activities within the warehouse, i.e. 5s audits, alignment with Standard Work procedures across the network.
  • Management of the timely data collection to update operations metrics on an hourly basis, in an inventory control and systems environment, to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors and thus deliver excellent customer service.
  • Work closely with other support teams (HR, Finance) on staffing plans, schedules and performance levels to enable the logistics and the broader Operations network.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and make our customer experience better than ever.
  • Perform and support daily management of department duties.
  • Carry out debriefs of all staff and ensure that paperwork is accurately and fully completed.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with trained Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs.)
  • Carry out security checks for each and every action.
  • Assign work to staff as required to support the workflow and daily metrics.
  • Support the Ops Head by ensuring there is sufficient resourcing for your function including call outs for training needs, absence and performance management, coaching and continuous monitoring of department productivity.
  • Support in the development of a strong culture of health and safety practices and initiatives through the company policy.
  • Assist with the training of new drivers or team leaders to ensure they have the right knowledge to carry out tasks required.
  • Own the total tracking, trending and reporting of departmental metrics.
  • Tracking and reporting of hours and schedules for staff.
  • Review and update SOPs and metrics as required.
  • Follow up and solve process-related area issues as required.
  • Improve flow of order through the area.
  • Take complete ownership of the team’s fleet management.
  • Proactive in building means and ways to achieve and exceed the assigned goals.
  • Manage customer service escalations and interface with driver and customer where necessary.

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Ideally degree qualified in Engineering or a Supply Chain/ Logistics/ Manufacturing related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in managing the operation department in the Logistics industry.
  • Proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Access.
  • Good understanding of Australian geography is a must.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, WMS and SAP Implementation/ Integration and Kaizen methodologies would be highly advantageous.
