Description:
The Head of International Engagement supports the Office of the Chief Engineer and is responsible for leading the development, management and execution of Engineers Australia's engagement and representation with international bodies. These bodies include the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP), and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations
Location: Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide with flexible / hybrid working options from an EA office in one of these Australian capital city locations.
In This Role You Will
- Lead and manage agreements governed by the International Engineering Alliance (IEA).
- Support the GM Professional Standards in strategic engagement with the IEA, including governance and the future direction of the IEA.
- Coordinate EA's involvement in IEA/WFEO/FEIAP working groups and report back through defined channels.
- Support Australian delegates to the IEA, WFEO, and FEIAP, including additional support for those holding IEA governing group and executive positions.
- Liaise with Australian government departments on engineering matters.
- Lead the activities required to prepare for IEA reviews, conduct reviews, and implement recommendations
- Develop and manage the implementation of Mutual Recognition Agreements with international engineering professional bodies.
- Support the development of assessment processes to align with EA standards, regulatory requirements, and international expectations
- Assist the International Advisory Panel.
- Collaborate on cross-functional teams for process improvement and quality management with the Office of the Chief Engineer and credentialing assessment teams.
- Contribute to the development of EA's international strategy
- Stay informed about the global engineering context and its implications.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness of the international context, with a focus on the IEA and its Accords and Agreements.
- Uphold professional standards and enhance the service quality provided by the Professional Standards team.
- Perform other necessary duties and projects.
About You
- Hold an Engineering qualification (any occupational category) with 15+ years of experience.
- Deep understanding of the engineering profession, competencies, and capabilities.
- Expert in international engagement considering cultural diversity and geopolitical changes.
- Skilled at synthesising insights aligned with strategic priorities.
- Effective management of complex senior-level stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and stakeholder management in national and international contexts.
- Ability to consult with a wide range of stakeholders, fostering advocacy and consensus-building.
- Proficient in Quality Assurance frameworks.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create guidance material, policies and procedures, contract documentation and reports
- Proven track record of delivering results in structured processes.
- Creative thinker and problem solver, driving innovative solutions for compliance enhancements.
