We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Health, Safety and Environment professional to join our national team on a full time basis. This role is based at our office in Adelaide, South Australia.
Reporting to the GM of SC&O ANZ, this role is responsible for developing, leading and managing the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) function in Australia and New Zealand in order to improve HSE systems, programs, culture and performance to continuously reduce the burden of environmental harm and workplace injury and illness and associated costs.
Key accountabilities include
Line managers have ultimate responsibility for HSE, and as such the Head of HSE roles is primarily to advise, support and assist managers in improving HSE systems, programs and performance.
As such, key decision-making revolves around:
• Formulation of short and medium term strategies, policies and systems to improve HSE performance, culture and compliance as well as management capability to reduce the risk of workplace injuries and illness.
• Formulation of short and medium term strategies, policies and systems to improve injury management performance and reduce associated costs and liabilities.
• Recognising where the HSE team requires development in order to better provide a professional service to line management and employees.
• Effective management of stakeholder relationships to influence change and deliver agreed outcomes
• Recognising where HSE systems, behaviours and equipment could be improved and responding accordingly through line management
• Selection of cost-effective solutions that meet both regulatory obligations and business objectives
• Prioritising personal and direct-report workloads to optimise delivery of outcomes
About you
As a key member of the HSE team, you will act as a trusted advisor and business partner and you will have an in-depth knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation. You will have a qualification in Management Systems Auditing, Diploma level qualifications in WHS and a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment would be well regarded. In addition, you will be able create and present complex reports to senior leaders in the business.
With a focus on safety, Accolade Wines is looking for a HSE professional with a minimum of 10 years’ experience, ideally in the wine industry, but a background in FMCG, manufacturing or construction would also be considered.
