Swinburne University of Technology is investing significantly into our green energy future. We engage in significant research in renewable energy technologies and, working in partnership with CSIRO and Germany’s ARENA 2036, are developing the Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2).

Many of our clients are developing strategies to decarbonise their businesses and put them on an energy footing that is sustainable and future-oriented. A portfolio approach that includes both existing renewables and emerging energy technologies such as hydrogen technologies is required in this energy transition.

At Swinburne and through the Hydrogen Hub, we businesses in their energy transformations and, in particular, in their move towards a hydrogen economy. We also work with businesses to “get them ready” to discover and leverage new opportunities in the renewables and hydrogen markets.

The Factory of the Future has established a significant track record in working with manufacturing SMEs and companies from other sectors to prepare them for business model innovation through digitalisation. As a part of the VH2 Hub team, we are now seeking to expand our engagement to the renewables and hydrogen economy technology space.

The Green Energy Technology consultant will join the broader Factory of the Future team and form part of the core multidisciplinary team at VH2. You will help our partners create new green energy outcomes, and you thrive working at the interface between technology and industry. You relish the opportunity to build confidence with our partners through a strong understanding of renewable and hydrogen energy technologies and our clients’ business objectives.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degree in Engineering, Energy Science, Physics or Business.
  • Extensive experience working in the renewables sector/hydrogen technology
  • Strong desire and track record of working in technology-led business transformation roles with an intense curiosity and appreciation for the opportunities and threats that may arise from the collision of industry and technology
  • Passion for new renewable energy and hydrogen technology trends and the ability to translate them into client solutions


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of the Hydrogen Hub during client visits and technical discussions.
  • Work with clients and as part of the Swinburne team to develop green energy strategies, including hydrogen strategies for the client.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for Victorian/Australian businesses to participate in renewable energy and hydrogen supply chains. Blend public, proprietary and client data into operational and strategic insights.
  • Assist in the development of strategies to coordinate and implement projects.
  • Work within a wider operations team at CSIRO and Swinburne University and with industry collaborators.
