The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is an independent incorporated body that represents and supports the graduate student community at Monash University. We provide services to over 26,000 graduates across the Victorian campuses of Caulfield, Clayton, Parkville and Peninsula as well as off-campus locations such as the AMREP complex, Law Chambers and the Monash Medical Centre. Our aim is to inspire, support and represent the graduate community and enhance the graduate student experience at Monash University.

The role

The Graduate Policy and Liaison Officer is a full-time position located at the MGA Clayton office. The position reports directly to the Research Manager. The primary role of this position is supporting graduate student representatives on University committees and assisting with reviewing and drafting policy responses.

Highlights of the work include:

• Maintaining and developing the graduate student representative network
• Ensuring the flow of information between graduate students on University committees and the MGA
• Assist with drafting submissions on various policies and procedures
• Preparing responses to changes by University and Government bodies which affect graduate students

Skills and experience

Our ideal candidate possesses enthusiasm, diplomacy, a passion for coordinating students, and strong written communication skills. You should also have:

• Tertiary qualification or relevant experience, particularly within the Australian University sector
• Experience with writing policies and/or submissions
• Excellent oral and written communication, including the confidence and experience to speak at public events
• Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including the ability to plan and evaluate activities, set priorities, work independently and perform well under pressure
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups, different cultures and professions
