The Role:
To contribute to Leica project teams to ensure successful project outcomes for our products
Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to:
Applying engineering methods and manufacturing process requirements to design components, mechanisms and assemblies.
Sourcing and selection of suppliers of OEM components and products.
Root cause analysis and solving technical problems with instruments in production or in the field.
Working with other departments to design and improve new and existing products.
Applying Leica quality process to implement changes and improvements to existing products.
Using CAD to generate detailed designs and drawings.
Liaising with workshop technicians and suppliers to produce mechanical prototype components.
Constructing prototypes.
Mechanical and functional testing of products including design, construction, programming and instrumentation of test rigs.
Verifying product performance.
Generating technical documents including design descriptions, test plans and reports.
Identify and pursue opportunities for development.
To be successful in this opportunity, a prior experience in the following criteria would be required:
Degree qualified in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
Familiarity in mechanical, electronics and software systems and interactions
Able to follow instruction for use of inspection and measurement tools (CROs, multimeters, verniers etc.)
Familiarity with CAD tools (NX, Solidworks, Altium)
Interest with hybrid mechanical, electronic and software systems comprising of sensors, microcontrollers, motors, heating/cooling systems, pneumatics, fluidics
Capable to establish detailed actions plan based on high level milestones and work autonomously to drive to completion
Good understanding of project priorities. Adaptable to change between projects to support business needs
Competent with MS Office
Attention to detail
Positive, self-motivated disposition and personal accountability
Excellent interpersonal and communication and teamwork skills
Desire to improve lives
Highly Desirable:
Interest in Histology
Experience in production as part of regulated environment
Experience with reliability engineering concepts
Practical experience in prototype and test
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to root cause highly complex problems
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively cross-functional and with management
Good understanding in motor control system (e.g PID tuning and motor selection)
Good understanding in programming and algorithm design for electro-mechanical system
