Governance Officers

Description:

Our Department Values

Our values set the direction for what it means to work in our department. They inform the standard and expectations of behaviours, skills and capabilities and the attributes we currently have, will continually work to achieve and develop, and that we use to acknowledge and attract, retain and recruit into our department.

The department supports workplace diversity and values the contribution of people from diverse backgrounds. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, people with cultural and linguistic diversity, and LGBTIQ people. The department is committed to achieving gender equality and, in particular, supporting women’s progression into senior leadership.

The opportunity we have available
The Vehicle Safety Policy and Partnerships Branch is looking for two APS6 policy officers who are enthusiastic, have demonstrated high order writing skills and are interested in regulation to join the RVS Legislation, Policy and Partnerships Team. We are specifically seeking:

  • A person with legal qualifications who is experienced in delivering legislative reforms to fill a recently vacated position that is responsible for developing legislative instruments and providing legal policy advice to inform operational policies, procedures and external guidance material to support the RVS legislation; and
  • A person who is experienced in quickly learning new information and applying it to lead the development of briefing and guidance material. This person will fill a newly created position in the team.
  • The RVS Legislation, Policy and Partnerships Team is a small team of seven, providing policy and legislation support for the recently introduced RVS legislative framework. Managing the implementation of new legislation brings a unique set of challenges, as industry, the community, and the regulator develop a deep understanding of options, requirements and approvals now available.
  • Our team members love solving puzzles and have a passion for helping others understand the policy and technical aspects of our legislation to support the manufacture, import and supply of vehicles that meet the standards for safety, environmental performance and theft protection our community expects.
