Our Opportunity
The General Manager position offers an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Senior Executive to oversee the delivery of AFMA’s domestic and foreign compliance programs and compliance related international engagement activities. This position, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, is a member of the agency’s Executive leadership group.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for strategic leadership and operational management of the Fisheries Operations Branch. You will have an innovative and progressive outlook on delivering against compliance objectives, experience in a compliance and/or regulatory environment and experience in working with partners to achieve results.
AFMA’s compliance functions are executed in close consultation with other Commonwealth and state government agencies. A significant part of this role will therefore be to work with AFMA’s partners and stakeholders, form trusted relationships and meet business needs.
Who we are looking for?
The successful applicant will have solid experience in senior leadership positions in the government or the private sector, together with an impressive record of success in organisational leadership, compliance culture and regulatory best-practice. Experience in international engagement will also be considered favorably.
As a member of AFMA’s small Executive leadership group, you will be responsible for working with the Chief Executive Officer and other Executives to set and lead a positive and harmonious agency-wide culture. This role is also responsible for regular reports to the AFMA Commission and Minister, and representational duties on behalf of the agency in external fora.
