The City Data branch enables CoM as a global leader in data-enabled, evidence based, city decision making that is respected and influences relevant layers of Australian government (Federal, State and local) and key local stakeholders (property sector, community sector, media, economists, etc). We enable better policy, planning and operational decisions based on actionable insights and secure robust datasets.

The Front End Developer works within the City Data Experience team and is responsible for the development, output and maintenance of a range of spatial and non-spatial web-based data visualisation products. As a senior member within the team, the Front End Developer provides mentoring and guidance in their area of expertise, while being a vital collaborator in a group with diverse skills ranging from content curation, product design, community engagement, communications, primary research and insights.

The Front End Developer produces, tests, deploys and maintains a suite of data-driven web-based experiences, and contributes to identifying and prioritising new features. As the sole developer in the team, the Front End Developer is comfortable working independently as well as bringing their vital skills to a range of cross-functional teams. A recent example of the team's output is the Mapping Aboriginal Melbourne website (aboriginal-map.melbourne.vic.gov.au), which demonstrates the collaborative, creative and impactful work that the Front End Developer will be creating on a day-to-day basis.
