A great opportunity exists for an experienced and driven Financial Accountant to join the Mohawk Flooring Oceania Finance team and deliver high quality general accounting services within our Corporate Accounting team in Australia, based in South Geelong

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Senior Financial Accountant and working closely with the Australian Group Financial Controller and the Management Accountant, you will be a key member of the Corporate Accounting team.

You will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly financial and management account reports and perform financial accounting services including journal processing, month end general ledger close, balance sheet reconciliations, management reporting and tax support as required. You’ll investigate and resolve issues and seek to implement processes and internal accounting controls to prevent the reoccurrence of such issues.

In addition, you will assist in the preparation of the statutory accounts, BAS, tax and FBT, and monthly reporting. You will provide insight through your analysis regarding business performance to assist the leadership team in decision making.

Furthermore, you will provide support to the financial accounting team for internal and external audits.

About the Successful Candidate

To be successful in this role you will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting with 3 to 5 years post qualification experience in a similar financial accounting role. You will be CA/CPA qualified or near qualified.

You will possess high level numeracy and reconciliation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy and have a positive and proactive approach, with experience in meeting tight end of month deadlines for key deliverables, ideally experience reporting to an overseas parent company. A working understanding of SOx obligations is advantageous but not essential.

You must have exceptional Excel skills and be a current user of an ERP system with experience in SAP or JD Edwards being particularly valued. Experience in migrating from one ERP system to another is also highly advantageous.

You will have experience preparing statutory accounts, budgeting and forecasting and BAS/FBT returns.
