Financial Accountant

Description:

We are looking for a Financial Accountant with a focus on continuous improvement to join our Group Financial Control Team, reporting into our Asset Finance Manager. The role is a 12-month contract based in our Sydney CBD offices with flexibility to work from home 2 days a week. You will play an important role in optimising the accounting and governance for Lion’s fixed assets. You will work closely with site managers, IT and finance business partners, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your soft skills and technical knowledge.

A day in the life
 

• Champion fixed asset management initiatives and drive continuous improvement to address key recommendations from recent internal and external audit reviews
• Work closely with business partners and site teams to strengthen fixed asset governance
• Work with IT to optimise SAP and other tech tools to drive automation in Capex processes
• Deliver KPI insights to business partners through timely reporting and analysis
• Support the delivery of fixed asset, lease and balance sheet governance reporting
• Improve the depreciation and amortisation budgeting process.
  
   

What You’ll Bring
 

• 5+ years’ experience in a financial accounting or business services role
• Knowledge of end-to-end accounting processes and accounting and taxation standards (IFRS standards and Australian/New Zealand tax).
• Experience in internal control environment process improvement and creating process maps
• Strong systems skills (SAP preferable) and practical experience in working with data and reporting tools (e.g. SQL, Alteryx and Power BI)
• An accounting qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA) and/or fixed asset management experience would be an advantage.
