Description:
As a successful applicant, you will be an integral team member within the Financial Accounting and Compliance Branch – Corporate Reporting unit in the Financial Services Department (FSD). The Branch has primary responsibility for producing Victoria Police's Annual Financial Statements and ensuring the quality, accuracy and completeness of the financial information disclosed therein. It also manages the monthly reporting, asset management, trust accounting and Treasury. Finally, the branch has carriage of financial corporate governance, taxation and insurance.
The Finance officer will work primarily in the Corporate Reporting Unit working closely with stakeholders both internally within FSD and across Victoria Police in supporting the team delivery of providing high-quality accounting and financial services across the organisation.
The primary focus is on General Ledger maintenance, cash management support and assisting with the maintenance of the Projects module in Oracle.
This role reports directly to the Corporate Reporting manager.

- Daily journal postings.
- Maintenance of General Ledger dedicated email requests, Organisational Structure Hierarchy and Chart of Accounts.
- Validate and post journals received from the Financial Services Department and other Regions/Commands/Departments across the organisation.
- Addressing all General Ledger related queries.
- Maintain and manage the Oracle Locations dedicated email and address all locations-related queries.
- Addressing Location Code requests such as creating, amending and deactivating location codes.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of the Project Accounts in Oracle.
- Banking and daily bank reconciliations.
- Cash Management forecasting.
- Cancellation of cheques.
- Controlled trusts management.
- End of month journals.
- Maintain a Commitments register for reporting, and
- Other duties as required.
- Experience in the use of accounting software, preferably Oracle in a large organisation.
- Knowledge and application of accounting principles and standards.
- Diploma (or equivalent) or higher qualifications in accounting or finance would be highly regarded.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independenty.

- Good MS Excel skills.

- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- After-hours may be required at financial month-end and year-end.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
