Finance Business Partner

Description:

We are seeking a Finance Business Partner to come join us in our Finance team to work closely with senior managers and their teams to help drive business performance and enhance the quality of financial and commercial decisions within the Operations portfolio. The Operations portfolio comprises shared services teams supporting the delivery of Swinburne’s strategic ambitions.

Utilising your strong stakeholder management skills, you will be responsible for influencing and developing financial plans, advising on future direction and investment choices and is responsible for providing financial reporting, analysis, insights and objective financial advice to drive improvement in operational performance while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards and the University’s policies and procedures.

You will also provide coaching and training to improve financial management knowledge and skills across layers of management within the portfolio and provide forward looking insight, promote good financial and risk management disciplines and act as a catalyst for business’ change in driving continuous improvement.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
 

• Significant experience in financial management and related activities, preferably in a large, complex and matrixed organisation.
• Strong knowledge and experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, delivering consistently accurate and clear information.
• Proven time management skills, including the ability to plan and organise conflicting workload priorities, adhere to deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Demonstrated solid analytical acumen and the ability to interpret financial data and provide solutions to a range of commercial issues.
• Ability to see the ‘big picture’ whilst helping implement procedural change.
• A strong influencer through helping stakeholders understand key issues and formulate solutions/actions to drive financial outcomes.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree with a major in accounting or similar discipline, with subsequent relevant experience
• Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CAANZ) or Certified Practicing Accountant Australia (CPA)
