Our current workload within the Rail business has grown significantly and we are looking to recruit an Associate Rail Design Engineer to join our Perth team. Responsibilities will include delivering the design elements of rail/transit projects, liaising with clients, enhancing and developing the local Perth Rail team’s skills, and promoting the Jacobs brand. This role will focus leading and managing the design aspects of rail / transit projects, including;

  • Delivery of multi discipline rail / transit design packages, giving consideration to OLE, Civil, Earthworks, Drainage and Signalling on time, on budget and to the required quality
  • Providing technical input to concept / detailed design work to ensure correct solutions are proposed to meet or exceed the client’s requirements
  • Preparing reports, specifications and engineering calculations
  • Ensuring interface coordination between design disciplines / rail systems
  • Ensuring constructability through interaction with construction / delivery teams
  • Delivering innovative designs that provide value for money to the client
  • Proactive assistance with Safety in Design and Risk Management processes
  • Participating at interactive meetings with project stakeholders.
  • Maintaining a high level of knowledge within the railway / transit discipline (Passenger / Freight / Metro / LRT).
  • Management of Inter-Discipline Check (IDC) / Inter-Discipline Review (IDR) process and peer review process and timely close out
  • Ensuring compliance with the projects QA plan
  • Participation at interactive meetings with the Client
  • Perform design checks on other team members designs

 

 

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Tertiary qualified with a Bachelor of Engineering and a minimum of ten years’ experience, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate competency in the following selection criteria
  • An ability to prepare design documents, drawings, technical reports, scopes of work, specifications, project definition and design criteria documents.
  • Knowledge of rail / transit specific design codes in Australia, particularly in Western Australia and relevant acts and legislation.
  • An ability to provide technical support to other Engineers, contract administrators and procurement officers
  • A solid understanding of rail / transit systems design e.g. Civil (Drainage & Earthworks), Structural (Bridges & Structures), Overhead Line Electrification, and Signalling & Communications Design
  • Extensive experience in delivering small to medium scale multi-disciplinary engineering projects through differing procurement methods and design / development stages.
  • Construction experience desirable but not essential Experience working directly with Delivery Partners (Contractors) preferable but not essential.
