Executive Planning Officer

The Office of the Deputy Secretary NSW Planning is currently seeking to appoint an Executive Planning Officer to provide high-level executive advice and strategic support services to the Deputy Secretary NSW Planning.

The Executive Planning Officer will also have the unique opportunity to work with the senior leaders of each division and their teams to support delivery against the Minister and Secretary’s priorities. The divisions of NSW Planning within DPE cover:

• Planning Policy,
• Development Assessment,
• Planning & Land Use Strategy,
• Delivery, Coordination, Digital & Insights
• Housing Supply and Infrastructure; and
• Stakeholder Engagement & Economic Recovery

The successful candidate will need to enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment of competing priorities and will need to have the ability to:

• Translate technical and complex information quickly
• Coordinate and prepare quality and timely plain English briefings and strategic advice for the Deputy Secretary, NSW Planning
• Anticipate and manage large volumes of correspondence, reports, cabinet submissions, and briefing notes within tight timeframes
• Quickly develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders e.g., Parliamentary & Government Services, Office of the Secretary, and the Minister’s Office
• Work with all teams across NSW Planning to ensure the Office of the Deputy Secretary is supported to manage and deliver on the government’s priorities,
• Assist in the development and implementation of internal systems, projects, and programs.

• Degree in planning, environmental management, engineering, policy or other relevant discipline
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation and understanding of the NSW planning system.
